Dealing with setbacks
At times of stress, we can slip back into negative loops, like not doing any fun activities.
When setbacks happen, think:
Think ahead: what situations might cause problems?
For example, Bailey made a plan of homework that was due.
Catch the issue as quickly as you can.
The earlier you start, the easier it will be to work on it.
Bailey might notice a few pieces of homework are due the same week and plan to talk to the teacher about getting an extension.
It’s normal to feel a lot of ups and downs and that it is hard at times to sail the waves of our big feelings.
Bailey was stressed about homework being overdue and didn’t see his friends much.
Go back to some of the ideas in this program and do another worksheet.
Bailey went back to Part 6 to practise breaking tasks into smaller, easier bits and Part 3 to practise doing fun activities.
