Part 7
Grief and Getting on With Your Family
It can be hard sometimes with your family. It is common to feel angry and have arguments.
It can help to think together whether some of this arguing and getting angry at each other can be because of the grief both of you, and others, in the family are feeling.
Try walking away and cooling down using some of the ‘cool down activities’ on the tab if you are feeling angry, rather than getting into an argument or shouting.
Notice if you are breathing fast. It can be a sign you are getting stressed. Try and slow your breathing down. Notice what you are doing and what you can try to help you feel calmer, like slow breathing.
When you are feeling calmer, try asking your family member for what you need. Tell them how you would like them to support you.
Let them know if you need time to yourself. Think about whether you could do a fun activity together, for example, watch a movie or take a walk.
Find ways to get outside together and spend time outdoors in nature.
Both having time to calm down and a fun could work best. See what fits best for you and your family.
