Brief Project SKIL: Supporting Kids in Loss

About This Website

This website is a brief version of a full internet program for grief in children that was funded by a Channel 7 Telethon Trust, WA grant in 2025. It was developed with 11 children who had experienced grief and then tested in 96 children in 2025 with many families providing positive feedback.

This brief version was also developed together with children who have experienced grief.

It covers different kinds of grief, including the death of a person, death of a pet, and other loss, like parents’ divorce.

It has been designed for 6-12 year olds, with the support of a parent or caregiver. If you are older (e.g., 10-12 years old) you might prefer to do it on your own, rather than with a parent or carer.

The website is a self-help program. We suggest you complete it in one session with a brief break between parts 1 and 2. The idea is that you learn ideas on one day but keep on using the ideas and worksheets.

This website is based on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), shown in many studies to improve mental health and well-being.

We thank our Youth Advisory Committee who helped create this website.
